Buffalo Police Department issued a thank you on social media to a unidentified stranger who dropped off homemade ground mats for the homeless this winter.
“Thank you to the unidentified woman who dropped off these homemade “ground mats” made from plastic shopping bags for homeless people to lay on to keep off the cold ground.”
The post said officers in B District have handed out about a dozen or more so far during the afternoon and night shifts to homeless people they come across that don’t want to go to a shelter and they have about a dozen more left to hand out.
“Officers will continue to stress to homeless persons that they should seek shelter during the code blue nights for safety and warmth.”
